These metal dyes are a fantastic way of adding life and beauty to your projects. It is pure magic when I apply the clear coat on top of the metal dyes. They come to life in HIGH DEFINITION. The dyes go on very flat and almost powdery looking. I have to trust that the colors will appear after I clear coat them. One thing I learned is that a little goes a long way as far as color saturation. The first piece I applied way too much dye and the colors were vibrant ten times what I needed. You learn to trust that it will look good once clear coated. It it is not enough color, I have gone back over the clear and added more color plus clear to get the look I was looking for. These dyes are fantastic, I am very happy to have found out about Steel F/X and all the products and knowledge Bill has given to us as metal workers. His many years of trial and error have saved me the frustration of doing all that research myself. Thank you Bill, I will be a longtime customer.

The Gold Dye is not just a yellow with sparkles. If your looking for gold tones to add to your Steel F/X dye arsenal this is for you. This dye lends itself well to several application techniques. I tried sponging, brushing, spraying (dont tell bill), and pipette. The most interesting results came from the pipette. Small drops placed randomly on the surface until the entire area was covered left borders where the dots and patches of gold dye met. creating a awesome effect. Hope you enjoy this new dye as much as i do.

note: The Gold Dye no longer has iridescent flakes. In some airbrushes, clogging or erratic spray patterns can occur. But, you can add your own choice of color iridescent powders if you like. Bill, STEEL F/X®
