It May Seem That There’s “Too Much to Know”, When it Comes to Using Automotive, 2-Part Clear-Coat. The Short Video Above Will Take The Mystery Out of Properly Mixing a 4:1 (4 Parts Clear & 1 Part Hardener), and Shooting the Best Clear-Coat for Metal Art On The Planet!
You Want Your Finished Work to Look Like it’s Been “Dipped in Glass”, With a Deep, Super-Clear, (Sometimes Called, “Water-Clear”) Finish. You Will NEVER Get That With a “Rattle-Can”, Single Stage Clear, Whether it’s Poly-Urethane or Lacquer. Why? Read On…
They’re Way Too Thin, Require Several (Many) Coats & Don’t Typically Have Much in the Way of UV (Ultra-Violet) Inhibitors. And, technically, you should lightly sand between coats when using off-the-shelf, single stage clears. Who’s got time for that?
PPG® DELTRON™DC3000 is by Far…The Best Clear-Coat You Will Ever Use. Fast Drying, Deep Film Thickness (+/- 3 mils wet / 1.5-1.8 mils Dry), and a Life-Span of 10-20 Years if Properly Applied.
It’s Really Very, Very Easy & If You Use It, It’s Fair to Say, “You’ll Never Go Back to Rattle-Can Clear-Coat Again”!
Two More Things: 1) DELTRON DC3000, like most PPG® Products, as well as Other Mfg’s Clears, Can be Flattened to Semi-Gloss, Matte, Satin, Eggshell, Flat, or Any Level of Flattening You or Your Customer May Want, But Remember! — The Flatter You Go, The More The Clear-Coat Will Subdue or Mute the Colors Beneath. In Some Situations, Flattening is Indicated or Preferred, But In Most Cases, It is Not.
In This Video, I Mixed up 6 ounces and Only Used 1.5 Ounces!
2) The Table-Top Area That I Shot in This Video Was 30″ Deep X 60″ Long! (12-1/2 Square Feet With 1.5 Oz. of Clear-Coat!
A 1-Gallon System is Actually 5 Quarts of Finished Product, or 160 Ounces.
160 Oz. (5 Quarts) Will Cover Approx. 700 Sq. Ft.!
I Hope the Video Helps.
Thanks!
