Steel Patinas for Corrugated Galvanized Panels
I’m in the process of remodeling our kitchen and would like to apply a similar patina to corrugated roofing as attached for our island as well. From what I’ve studied, I need to strip the roofing (steel) of its galvanized coating with muriatic acid before applying your patinas? Please let me know if I’m on the right track, what colors your would suggest and if a spray or drip application would give similar results?
Appreciate it,
Trudi
Hi Trudi,
You are correct in removing some or all of the zinc coating from the steel prior to applying patinas. Spraying or Drizzling the Patinas are both great methods of applying color/s & patterning. Colors are up to you, but I’m kind of partial to putting down the COPPER F/X™ first, followed by BLUE HALO™.
To achieve the coloration shown in the photo you submitted (above), I would probably just use some FLAME F/X™ and BLACK F/X™.
If you would like a different color range, for instance reds & browns, let me know & I’ll advise accordingly.
Thanks,
Bill
Update: (11/01/2017) – We Now Have GALVA-RUST™ PATINA FOR GALVANIZED. It Does Not Require Removal of the Galvanization (Zinc) Prior to Use.
