”Hello Mr. Worden,
What would you recommend using to color 22 gauge mild sheet steel blue? I’ve seen a few of your videos showing stainless but I’ve not seen anything for mild steel”.
Answer From Bill:
The Most Popular Blue Patina cChoices, in Descending Order, Are:
- BLUE HALO™
- FLAME F/X™
- GUN-BLUE F/X™
- TORCH F/X™
- (Note: TORCH F/X™ MUST be used over COPPER F/X™. It will NOT produce it’s famous ‘blues’on bare steel).
The Above Mentioned Patinas Are All Liquids. BLUE HALO™, TORCH F/X™ & FLAME F/X™ also come in Gel Form, which is typically used for Marbling & Patterning. Basically, the Gels Create Darks, Lights & Abstract Patterning That the Liquid Versions Can’t Do as Well.
BLUE-BLACK F/X™ Gel is Also Very Popular for Deep, Dark, Blueish-Black Finishes, Similar to Cold Gun Bluing.
Hope that helps.
